How does acupuncture work?
Acupuncture and Chinese medicine recognizes that there is a natural energy force called Qi (pronounced "CHEE") that runs along the human body. For any number of reasons, blockage of Qi leads to imbalance, resulting in body pain and illness.
To treat any Qi imbalances, very fine, sterile needles are inserted at specific points to help Qi flow. Consequently, the energy is released and regulated, and health may be restored.
The treatment plan may include other related therapies such as physical therapy modality, cupping, tuina, and herbal prescription.
